Millimetre-wave scanning systems:
Alfa Imaging is a company, unique worldwide in the design of ultra-fast millimetre-wave and terahertz scanning systems. We have two patented configurations, one international and another pending. This allows us to offer a wide range of security systems to cover any possible scenario. We have a significant presence in the main international conferences and expert meetings that speaks for the scientific quality of our research and developments.
Alfa Imaging represents the Spanish industry in two NATO working groups dedicated to millimetre-waves and terahertz (SET-135) and to the detection of explosives at stand-off distances (SET-124). Participation in these groups of experts gives us a good perspective on the state of the art and future research areas.
Optical design:
Our design capabilities include opto-mechanical and electromagnetic simulation using ray tracing and physical optics systems at millimetre and submillimetre frequencies (reflectors, antennas and waveguides).
We also have experience in the simulation and design of optical systems especially in the infrared band, using packages such as ray tracing in OSLO.
Optics lab:
We have an optical lab in which we can validate and characterize a wide range of optical assemblies.
Millimetre-wave image processing:
In order to increase the detection capabilities of mm-wave imaging systems, Alfa Imaging has developed an image processing routine whose main objective is the automatic detection of possible threats. Another important feature is the image fusion of the threat detected in mm-waves with the visible image or with a generic human outline, in order to completely avoid privacy issues.
This processing routine is extremely versatile. It has different operation modes adapted to several operating environments and security application requirements. The following figure illustrates the process. The final visible image is the one automatically presented to the operator.
