Stand-off people screening

Passive millimetre-wave imagers are a safe and effective alternative or complement to metal detectors for security screening, with the important added value of also being able to detect non-metallic objects such as drugs, ceramic weapons, plastic explosives and IEDs.

Alfa Imaging’s systems dispense with the usual portal architecture, thus allowing stand-off detection in the normal person flow. This increases throughput, noticeably reducing waiting times and queues at inspection points.

This configuration, in addition to the covert operation possibility, makes the imagers ideal for the following civil and military applications:

passenger screening for mass transport:

Airports, Train stations, Underground stations, Bus stations, Ports (passenger ferries, cruise liners)…

Alfa Imaging’s systems may be integrated with a metal detector and X-Ray hand-luggage screening device, in order to provide a complete screening solution with a higher throughput than that currently available.

The scanners may be hidden from view and the operator may be remote.  The passenger only stops to deposit and pick up their personal belongings from the X-Ray belt.  Once the passenger and luggage has been scanned the operator automatically opens one door if the passenger is clean and the other for further screening if an object has been detected.
